Stormwater is the flow of water which occurs following rainfall. Stormwater is the precipitation that is not taken up by plants, infiltrated into the ground, or evaporated into the atmosphere. Stormwater starts clean but it collects pollutants such as oils, bacteria, nutrients and sediments from the land surface, roadways, sidewalks, parking lots, construction sites, business parks, etc.
